Chimney Repair in DFW
* We also provide wood chimney repair.
When a fire burns, it produces carbon monoxide and other toxic gases that need to be directed outside. If your chimney is blocked or damaged, these gases can intrude into your home. When burning your fireplace, the flue gases that are produced from wood make a tiny partials called creosote. After a period of time, these particles collect in the smoke chamber and flue. If these partials collect in a large amount, and they are heated to a point of combustion then a chimney fire can start. If the fire is intense enough, it can breach the brick structure. This is where a house fire can occur.
Experts recommend an annual maintenance check for all wood-burning chimneys, especially before the winter season. However, the quality of service you'll get varies widely from company to company. In fact, chimney repair and cleaning scams are on the rise, and unsuspecting homeowners are sometimes pressured into paying for unnecessary or even detrimental services.

Our promise to our clients is that we will never affix any extra services or fees, and that's just one reason our customers keep coming back to us year after year.

Another need for repair is flashing. The metal that keeps water from entering the chimney between the roofline and the bricks is called flashing. If your roof was repaired recently, you can forget about the roofer doing it. I have been on over 5,000 roofs in 25 years, and most flashing is done wrong.
Proper flashing around a chimney includes two layers. The first is called step flashing: Sections of L-shaped sheet metal are woven into the shingle courses and lapped up the side of the chimney. Next comes the counter flashing: A second layer of metal is embedded in the chimney mortar joints and folded down to cover the top of the step flashing. least 1/2 to 1 inch. This is the final defense to keep water out of your house.. If you see a stain around the ceiling were the chimney is the flashing is bad.

Quality Service, very professional
We had a chimney fire back last winter. Needed to find someone to look at it. Saw one of the Black Velvet Chimney trucks while driving down the highway. Jotted the number down and gave them a call. Pete came out and cleaned and inspected the chimney with the camera. Showed us the damage and explained everything and went over all our options. We decided to have a stove insert installed. Discussed the different stoves and chose one to fit our needs. Very courteous, no pressure. He was prompt, neat and tidy in his work and the cost was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Black Velvet Chimney. Thanks Pete, job well done!
Black Velvet Chimney is now my only choice
First experience with Pete and BVC and I was not disappointed. Conducted a complete inspection inside and out, explained what he found and discussed what were the top priorities. No pressure or effort to generate sales, just an honest evaluation of the condition of the chimney. Pete is good at explaining things and the procedures & materials used if you so inclined and interested like me. It was a friendly yet professional experience and I'll use this company again. I thought the pricing was pushing the the top end but I'm 69 and that may be a factor. Overall, very pleased.
